Saudi Arabia's grand mufti asks for donations for war on Yemen

Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al ash-Sheikh has urged his followers to make financial donations to the regime’s ongoing war on Yemen.

The religious figure has asked his adherents as well as businesses to raise money for Saudi soldiers stationed in the southwestern border region of Najran, Asir and Jizan. He has characterized the financial donations as “a holy task.”

Sheikh Abdul Aziz has issued controversial fatwas in the past too. The fatwas issued by the grand mufti is based on Wahhabism which is condemned by the majority of Muslims as it contradicts the doctrine of Islam.

Wahhabism is considered as the main ideology that leads to the creation of terrorist groups such as Daesh (ISIS).

Saudi Arabia has carried out airstrikes as well as ground advances inside Yemen. Since March 2015, Yemeni people have gone through a devastating humanitarian crisis as a result of Saudi raids.

Thousands of civilians have lost their lives in the attacks and at the moment, Yemeni people are in dire need of safe water to drink, healthcare, food, etc.

A few days ago, the Yemeni army fired back at Saudi forces and was able to shoot down a Saudi spy plane and destroy an Abrams tank in the Kingdom’s south and southwest.

Also on Monday, the Yemeni army, with the help of popular forces, fired a ballistic missile at a Saudi military base in Jizan province as a retaliation against Saudi Arabia’s strikes against the Yemeni people.
